EXCITING NEWS FOR CGA RIDERS IN THE SOUTH

The two clubs which run at the Rick Thompson Arena in the Riverside Area have decided to work together to give CGA riders more options and more benefits.

Glen Avon Comancheros (GAC) and Riverside County Mounted Mavericks (RCMM) are now combining efforts with equipment, memberships, Boards and some shows which will give riders more riding options and discounts.

Why work together, what is the goal?

Classic

The two clubs are working together in hopes we can increase the riders for both clubs, offer more rewarding shows, and purchase more upgraded equipment which is to everybody’s benefit. To date the clubs have already purchased a tractor, an arena implement and a new computer.

The Boards for both clubs already work together very well and help each other out. During last year the two clubs ran two tractor benefit shows as well as Spring Classic together and helped each other out when necessary during the regular shows. With so much cross contact and assistance it only makes sense for use to officially work together.

Okay, but who is running what?

There is now one governing board and two show boards (one for GAC, one for RCMM). To a rider, there will be no appearance of change except there should be more assistance in the arena and sign-up booths. We also have the flexibility of swapping places between the clubs when necessary to help both shows run more efficiently.

The Boards are as follows:

Governing Board:

  • Sue Engelhardt, CEO
  • Janet Young, President
  • Rita Newell, Vice President
  • Kori Ressell, Secretary
  • Diana Wehrli, Treasurer

Glen Avon Comancheros Show Board:

  • Kori Cruz, Show Manager
  • Janet Young/Rita Newell: Arena Manager
  • Kori Russell Show Secretary
  • Rhyannon Young Awards Manager
  • Diana Wehrli Treasurer

Riverside County Mounted Mavericks Show Board:

  • Marta Weststeyn Show Manager
  • Brent Engelhardt Arena Manager
  • Michele Easel Show Secretary
  • Sue Engelhardt Awards Manager
  • Diana Wehrli Treasurer

Rick Thompson Arena – CGA Show Membership

Flags

This will be a CGA Arena membership for riders to take advantage of. For a low price of $30 for an individual, $40 for a family, riders will have the option of paying the club price for either CGA Club. For example, once a rider obtains their membership, they will be paying an all day fee of $35 for GAC and a $40 all day fee for 6 events at RCMM. If you are not a member, you would be paying an extra $10 per club. This is a big savings to our riders!

CGA Districts – We Remain the Same!

Each district will remain the same number for CGA:

  • GAC is still District 15
  • RCMM is still District 19

Two Clubs – Two Different Formats to Choose From

Both Clubs will continue on with their same formats. Riders will have lots of fun and rewarding shows to choose from!

Glen Avon Comancheros

Offers a Traditional Show format with day awards (ribbons or buy-backs), 6 divisions, 6 events per show, day end high points, year-end high points for each division and a event Jackpot at each show (added on for a nominal fee) and a Pony Class! All for the low price of $35!

Riverside County Mounted Mavericks

Offers 5D and Series show format: 3 to 4 show series with large $$$ high points offered to division winners and placings at the end of each series, a $50 5D offered for every regular event run (all riders signed up are included in the pot at no extra charge), 6 and 7 event shows (Hurry Scurry is offered along with the Barrel Show). $40 for a 6 event day, $45 for a 7 event day.

Retiring of Current Record Holders – A chance for New Names And Records!!

After reviewing the current record holders list for both clubs, and realizing that many changes have happened to the CGA rules as well as our arena conditions since many of those records have been broken, it was decided both Clubs will be officially retiring their current record holders and all names will be posted on this web site at a later date. This is an exciting opportunity for everybody to bring out their best games for their names on the Records List.

This means there will now be one list for the Rick Thompson Arena – CGA Record Holders – Pony and Horse. We will be updated the web site with the new records holders after each show. Watch and see who our new leaders are…

All records holders at the end of the 2008/2009 Season will be issued a Record Holder Award at the GAC Awards Banquet.

More Planning For Special Shows!

The two clubs will be working together on plans for weekend special shows including Funfest and July Jubilee. With both clubs working together, we hope to be able to offer larger high point awards for those shows and more fun!

As we did last year, we will be hosting Spring Classic along with the V-Spurs of San Marcos.

Gerald and Cowboy Gymkhana is the action packed, precision sport of the equestrian world. A good Gymkhana horse must have the speed of a race horse, the turning quickness and agility of a cutting horse and the control and responsiveness of the stock horse.
